VALDOSTA, Ga. (AP) - Officials at Moody Air Force Base in south Georgia say the compound has been placed on lockdown after what they are calling a "perceived threat."

Officials posted the information Wednesday afternoon on the base's Facebook page.

The online message says emergency responders had secured the scene and there were no casualties. No other information was immediately available. Phone calls to base spokesmen are not being answered.

Moody is home to the Air Force's 23rd Wing and 93rd Air Ground Operations Wing. It is located in Valdosta, about 30 miles from the Georgia-Florida state line.
