BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. (WFTV) -- A pizza delivery man shot and killed an armed suspect who tried to rob him in a hotel parking lot late Friday night, according to Brevard County deputies.

Officials said the robbery attempt and shooting happened in the parking lot of the Days Inn on W. New Haven Avenue in Melbourne shortly before midnight.

The pizza delivery man, 54-year-old Bryon Park, had just made a delivery to one of the rooms at the Days Inn, deputies said.

"He went back to his car and was seated in his car, counting his money and his tip," Maj. Todd Goodyear with the Brevard County Sheriff's Office said.

According to deputies, Park was then approached by an armed man who attempted to rob him.

"The black male threatened him with the knife, asked him for his money and threatened to kill him," Goodyear said.

But investigators said Park, who works for Domino's, was armed with a gun in his vehicle.

"He pulled his firearm, shooting the robber one time," Goodyear said.

The attempted robbery suspect, identified as 32-year-old Fredrick Kelly Jr., was pronounced deceased in the parking lot, according to officials.

Deputies said they are continuing their investigation, but the pizza delivery man is not facing any charges.

Ah, but race WAS mentioned. "The black male threatened him with the knife, asked him for his money and threatened to kill him," Goodyear said. Now the State Attorney will try to intervene based on the complaints of the Black community, the Pizza guy will be arrested, have his name run through the mud, his family will be harassed and threatened, He will spend whatever money he has on defense attorneys, and will be convicted on some technicality by the State proscecution and will spend 30 to life in prison because, oh my, 2 ZIMMERMAN CASES WOULD CAUSE A TOTAL RACE WAR!!! Cudos to ya Pizza Guy!!! And only one shot too. No wasted ammo on this low life, burr-headed, mombo-lipped thug!

I think that the Pizza Guy should be able to sue the robber's family for not raising him right, along with the stress and all the other things that he will now have to deal with for the rest of his life.
