ORANGE PARK, Fla. -- The Orange Park Police Department is looking for a man they say tried to sell a baby for food.

It happened Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

Police say the man went door to door at a local motel offering to sell the baby in exchange for food. Right now, they do not know if the baby belongs to the man. The Orange Park Police Department is working to find the man to check on the welfare of the child.

A release from the Orange Park Police Department Sunday says the man and child might have been spotted at a nearby McDonalds restaurant between 10 and 11 p.m. Saturday.

Detective Garry Briggs who is investigating the case says witnesses told police a man and baby matching the ones in surveillance pictures from a nearby motel were picked up outside the restaurant at 428 Park Ave. by a taxi. The witnesses say they were accompanied by a woman.

Briggs says checks with local cab companies show no record of any call to that location, indicating the taxi may have given them a ride off the meter.

Police are now asking cab drivers who may have picked up the pair and the child to call the Orange Park Police Department.

If you know anything, call the Orange Park Police Department at (904)264-5555.

I agree DawnHa, I would have dialed 911, laid the phone down, and invited him in and got him talking about 'how much food are you selling your baby for'? That way its on the 911 tape to lock his sorry azz up and that sweet baby would be safe until the Law showed up. Please someone find this child asap before some pedo gets his filthy hands on him/her.

I will never understand what possesses people to do such things. I also don't understand why one of those people did not give the man a cheeseburger, take the baby out of an obviously unstable man's hands, and call the police.
