LAKE BUTLER, Fla.-- It's a crime that has a whole county grieving.
"Totally shocked me, and the whole community quite honestly," Sheriff Jerry Whitehead said.
Whitehead says they're learning more about Hubert Allen, Jr.'s rampage. Deputies recovered three weapons from his home, along with what the sheriff calls a pre-meditated suicide note.
"In the note, he indicated that he was going to harm the individuals that he did shoot," he continued.
James Bass worked alongside Allen for years. He says he loved Marvin Pritchett, and never showed any signs of violence.
"He was one of my best friends."
"Does this surprise you?" we asked. "Very much so," he replied.
Police tell Action News that Allen did suffer from gout and congestive heart failure. Pritchett Trucking says Allen retired from the company two weeks ago, while others claim he was fired. One thing is for sure: No one expected this.
"I've dealt with him for 35 years, and I've never seen any anger," Whitehead said.
