JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Police say officers fired on a suspect and missed, sending bullets into the side of a nearby home with people inside.

Two Jacksonville Sheriff's Office police officers were dispatched to a house on Lorenzo Court Wednesday morning after the residents called 911 to complain about a suspicious car driving up and down the street.

The officers weren't able to locate anyone. The resident called police back to the area 20 minutes later, saying the suspicious driver was her ex-boyfriend.

When police returned, they found Damian Treadway in the front yard with a gun. "The police commanded that individual to get to the ground," said Assistant Chief Christopher Butler.  "That individual did not comply and actually turned toward the officer."

One of the officers then fired his gun two times at Treadway.  Both bullets missed their mark and went into the side of the house. Four people were home at the time. No one was injured.

Treadway was taken into custody and charged with possession of gun by a felon.

I think the command should be "Drop the gun" since is meaningless to get on the ground and still have the gun. Maybe they were going to shoot him on the ground. Thank god the cop was a sorry shot or an innocent person could possible be dead.
