Vatican: Pope Benedict XVI will resign on February 28

VATICAN CITY (AP) -- Pope Benedict XVI announced Monday that he would resign Feb. 28 - the first pontiff to do so in nearly 600 years. The decision sets the stage for a conclave to elect a new pope before the end of March.

I have to give the Pope credit. Unlike the leaders of this country, he is smart enought to know that he has lived beyond his capability to lead his country, the Vatican State.
