Potentially deadly virus shuts down Flagler County dog park
BUNNELL, Fla. -- County officials are investigating if the parvovirus is active at Wadsworth Park in Flagler Beach.
A veterinarian contacted Flagler County in reference to a dog that recently came down with the virus, after a trip to the park.
According to the ASPCA, the parvovirus is a highly contagious disease that affects a dog’s intestinal tract.
Officials have contacted the University of Florida for help in determining how widespread the virus is in the county.
At last report, the infected dog was still being treated for the virus.
No word on how long the dog park will be closed.
