JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Veteran cornerback and Jacksonville native Rashean Mathis will not re-sign with the Jaguars this offseason. Mathis, an Englewood and Bethune-Cookman grad, has spent the last 10 seasons with his hometown team after being selected 39th overall in the 2003 draft.

Mathis leaves the team atop the record books in numerous categories including interceptions (30), takeaways (35), and interceptions returned for touchdowns (3). The cornerback also ranks in the top five of games played (137) and starts (129).

In 2012 Mathis was limited by injuries starting just four games for the Jaguars while battling knee problems. The veteran turns 33 years old on August 27th and enters unrestricted free agency next week.
