JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- First Access in Saint Augustine is located just a stones throw from the beach on A1A Beach Boulevard. It's a popular spot to grab some fresh seafood or a burger. Owner Benk Dagavos immediately asked us about his violations. Dagavos says, "I need to say something to people... when you come by do you know what these mean? I mean read one of them!"
There were 20 violations total documented by the state health inspector. 7 were high priority including:
Eggs at 60 and 70 degrees at the cook line
Butter not held at the right temperature
Tiny flies at the bar
Dagavos asked us to read the violations. He asked us, "Read one of them! What are we talking about? It says small flying insects in the bar area. The gentleman is standing over here and sees a fly! Do you see any flies? Do you see the place being dirty?"
We didn't see any flies at the bar and the place looked clean although Dagavos didn't want to show us the kitchen. He says all the violations at his place were minor and are fixed. He says his locally loved spot has been in business for 12 years and his packed parking lot and packed bar says it all.
Krystal Jax-12 on Beach Boulevard and China Garden on South Old Kings Road in Jacksonville
