JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Green Tea is a Chinese restaurant located in the cobblestone village at Saint Augustine off State Road 312. When the manager, Jiao, was finished taking orders she talked to us about an emergency order issued at the restaurant recently by the state. It was temporarily closed down for live and dead roaches. Jiao admitted to having roaches in the restaurant.

15 dead roaches were found near the triple sink in the back of the kitchen
19 live roaches were seen under the table in the wok station

Jiao told us she cleaned it all up. When we asked if she had a copy of the state health inspection available for customers to see - Jiao told us she took it home. She said, "I will have to go home to get it."

When we asked Jiao what she wanted to say to her customers about the roaches and recent closure she then said she had no idea what we were talking about. Here was her response when we asked if she still had roaches in the kitchen, "No. Yes. No."

Jiao then laughed and asked us to leave. She said, "You can go now. I'm very done."

Other restaurants at the top of the high priority list this week include:

Stop n Snack on Blanding Boulevard in Jacksonville had nine high priority violations including an employee who washed their hands without using soap. It was corrected on site.

At Hunan Wok on Fort Caroline Road in Jacksonville there were also nine high priority violations including an employee who used the bathroom then started prepping food without washing their hands. The inspector explained to him how to wash his hands correctly.

Shame on you Tera Barz and shame on the station for airing this! It is clear to anyone who watched this that the owner did not understand the conversation and that you were bullying her! They cleaned up the problem yet you are still reporting the restuarant as a problem!

You clearly picked on someone who speaks little English. We have been customers of Jiao and her family for 10 years running. The food is excellent and we have never had a problem, ever. We go there at least once a week. This is Florida, folks, a few roaches are not a big issue. If you look hard enough, they are there. As the reporter said, "the place is clean"! Keep in mind all the food is made "to order" hot, fresh and quickly, no buffet sitting around here! We have watched Jaio and her husband raise 4 children while both working very hard and long hours every day. Most days the children are at the restaurant doing homework. This is a hard-working American family! We will continue to go here. By the way, did I mention Green Tea has won Best of St. Augustine several years in a row? Rick Ambrose, St. Augustine
