JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Mi Tierra Spanish Groceries #2 is located on Beney Road in Jacksonville. It's a grocery store on one side and a restaurant on the other. This isn't the first time Mi Tierra has topped the 'critical' list in the Action News Original Restaurant Report.
In June of last year there were 16 critical violations including employees who weren't correctly washing their hands and an expired license. Both violations were issues again this week. Here's what we found in the state report:
Raw sausage at a potentially hazardous temperature that had to be iced down
An employee washed their hands - without soap
An expired license (30 days)
The Owner, Nicolas, had this to say about our second time featuring his store and restaurant at the top of the critical list:
"It has been taken care of already. We renewed our license. The hand washing is a one-time issue… it's not like it's happening every day. These are all small things. I'm kind of busy right now. Bye."
Other restaurants at the top of the list this week for high priority violations:
Piccadilly Cafeteria on University Boulevard in Jacksonville had 4 high priority violations and Donovan's Irish Pub in Saint Augustine had three.
The following restaurants had zero health violations and get our clean plate award of the week!
Gypsy Cab Co. - Saint Augustine
Epic Fare - Forest Blvd, Jacksonville
