Jacksonville, FLA. - Shiraz Pizza is a family owned business located on Southside Boulevard in Jacksonville.
The State of Florida issued an emergency order this week to temporarily close the restaurant for cleaning.
We found 16 violations in the latest inspection report - 3 of them were high priority including:
Dead and live roaches - they were found all over the kitchen including several live ones hiding on the prep table
The inspector noted seeing the manager kill eleven live roaches.
Owner of Shiraz Pizza, Sky Pemani says he's owned the restaurant for three years. He tells us, "It wasn't that much. It's Florida. There were a couple of roaches because we had the back door open for deliveries. I changed my pest control company. It wasn't nasty or something like that. Every three months we wash everything out with bleach. We are a family business and we care about our customers. Everything is nice and clean and we are back open now."
Ole Mexican Restaurant on Wells Road in Orange Park and Mr Taco on Bowden Road in Jacksonville rounded out the top three restaurants with the most number of critical violations this week.
Congratulations to the following restaurants - they had zero health violations and get our clean plate award of the week!
