nativejax You can play that what if game forever to advocate and apologize and excuse her actions. I believe the judge and jury acted on facts not on "what if" conjecture.

I believe I heard that she had priors, not certain what they were, but that was the reason for the 'minimum 20'.

Yea but turn it around and let that be a Ex who did what Alexander did....HE WOULD NOT HAVE GOTTEN 20 OR 12 years. He would get a lesser deal using some stupid 'crime of passion' excuse, or the 'she made him do it' excuse, AND Corey would have bent over for him and let him off easy.

Like I said, abuse does not have to leave 'visible' marks, she sounds like she was driven mad and make a stupid decision by going around her ex. BUT...if he was 'PLAYING' her and ask her to come back with some kind of bribes..like her kids, or reconcilliation, and she found out she was lied to, she probably went nuts...but not 20 or 12 years worth. I wish more of the facts were available, the only way that can happen is with a new trial, since her first was railroaded, by someone who claims she went by the LAW instead of the FACTS or EVIDENCE. HER EX did something, and she needs to speak up if so.

Her abuse claim is completely discredited by the fact there were no visible marks on her the night she fired the shots at her husband. Also, the prosecutor and most reasonable people believe a warning shot would be fired into the ceiling rather than the wall. If her husband was abusive and she had a restraining order out why did she come to his place when she was out on bail and assault him giving him an obvious black eye? Her story is complete B.S. and no reasonable judge or jury will believe it. I give her appeal chances of success less than zero. She turned down a lenient sentence and decided to roll the dice with a jury trial. Now that she lost she is suffering gamblers regret. Facts of the case remain the facts, no matter how hard the bleeding hearts want to try and twist them.

Her gun rights should be taken away and let her out on probation. It is fact her ex did abuse her she had restraining order against him at one point. As I recall in the statement she did attempt to leave but I think her car was blocked in. I could be wrong about this though. I recall a friends mother who was murdered by thugs( white ones not black) the trigger man after killing her execution style got only life in prison. This happened in the late 80's. Now he is up for parole and may soon get out. Meanwhile you got a woman who shot a warning shot stating she's not going take his abuse anymore and she is in jail for 20 years. Give her probation and warn her no weapons for 15 years. Under the circumstances that would fair. If she did commit a crime, which is possible, she did so because of years of abuse, and fear for what he was working up to do to her. As I said earlier this case is nothing like the Martin/Zimmerman case but she should not be in jail. How the hell did Jax wind up with Corey? She is awful.
