First of all, HarlequinDane, I'm wasn't responding to you, but to the person that called me out in their statement...I appreciate that you hope there's a positive outcome for the Lopez Family, and i never stated that He wasn't leaving here illegally. Even Cesar myself would admit to that technicality. What I mean though, by "Jumping the conclusions" is that most people who care to speak negatively regarding this situation doesn't know anything but what they are able to put within the small time allotted per installment. People assume the worst...Can you imagine what He himself went through. He was brought here illegally at 5...grew up here as his HOME, knowing nothing but America...To himself and to many others He is American. Yes, he even admitted in this 2nd part that He should've hired a lawyer at the beginning instead of trying to deal with the immigration process on his own, but what 18 year old do you know can afford a lawyer...so he did what he could with the time and resources he had...he worked hard, full time, paying his taxes to HIS country (America). He continued to go school, at a local Baptist College full time...Have you ever went through the Immigration process? I'm guessing not, but it takes time...it doesn't happen overnight. He had gotten into the final steps of the process when he was asked to fly to Mexico for a 3 day meeting to finalize everything when there was a mixup unrelated to him that wouldn't allow him to come home...All I ask is that those sitting in the comfort of their own home, surrounded by their family...the people they love, what take just a selfless moment to put yourself in their shoes...I appreciate Action News trying to help their situation, and the many kind people that encourage them instead of bash them.

SLB, how is it "jumping to conclusions" that this gentleman was here illegally ? The first part of the story is clear on that, this second installment is clear on that. As I stated, to me this isn't about whether this is a nice guy or not, or that once he attains citizenship/legal status he will continue to be a nice guy that sounds like he has given back to society. It is about starting out legally, not sidestepping the law or processes for entering and then back tracking to rectify. This is not meant to be disrespectful of a case/person you know beyond a news story. But the story highlights concerns many people have with illegal entrants in general. Hopefully the third installment will shed more light and depth on the specifics and generalities regarding legal immigration and possibly a positive outcome for Cesar and his family.

While I agree that children have no control over the actions of parents/adults -- how is it that undocumented children are able to enroll, stay in and graduate from schools here ? If someone is here illegally, how did they obtain a SS#, pay taxes, get a drivers license ? We had the usual run around this week getting my daughter a state id card -- had a voters reg card, ss card, but forgot to bring birth cert. Could not get a simple state id (not even the actual DL). So how do so many that come illegally (from any place, not just Mex) continue to have access to benefits and privileges that actual citizens have difficulty getting access to ? For myself, I don't have a problem if this person or others can legally address their citizenship issues and become law abiding members of the country. It just seems that some part of our system should have caught and addressed this situation and others like it many times over before a marriage and child were involved. The fact that this may be a nice guy isn't the actual issue. Skipping the process of becoming a citizen or at least being here legally via documentation is the issue. I don't think people should necessarily be nailed to the wall, but simply denying access to a job, school or hospital unless LEGAL docs are provided and arranging a ride or flight back to country of origin would surely slow the influx. Sending people back no ifs and or buts may be expensive, but it has got to be cheaper than all the services provided cumulatively to the numbers who AREN'T paying back into the systems they are using/draining. Get your documentation (be it citizenship, work or school visa, etc) and pay like most of us do and not a huge deal, imo. Otherwise, if the govt isn't going to follow thru on these things, quit hassling your actual citizens over documentation for a license, ID or health care :/

What people don't realize is that it is a heck of a lot harder to get into & stay in Mexico than it is for them to come here. They PROTECT their borders !!!

Again, he may have come here when he was 5...so his parents are the ones to blame, not our laws. Secondly, I am sure durring the time he was getting his degree, he gladly accepted the "minority" handouts this country is so fond of... So, it is unfortunate that he didnt complete his citizenship but the fact that he was "working" on it while he was an "illegal" doesnt make it bad that he got caught... I guess the word "illegaly" escapes some of you who want to break more laws by letting him have the easy way out... Again, she can always go to him. She is not a prisoner of the U.S.

I gotta say I agree with robdon24 and Cuillorojo. If this is such a hardship for them and he really misses his family then she needs to "man up" and move to Mexico to raise their family. He knew what he was doing...she knew what he was doing and now the baby pays for it?? No sympathy here. She needs to pack up and move to be with him or stop using the baby for a sympathy vote!

Okay SLB1183 how familiar are you with this case?? Nothing was noted in the story about him being brought here when he was 5, and was in the middle of getting his citizenship papers, and a mix up!! No this is not terrible, it is typicall of all illegal immmigrants who come to this country. They know they are illegal, they know they are breaking our laws!! They find some bleeding heart liberal, like this ignorant young woman, and play on their sympathy to try and hide from our laws and take advantage of the benefits of being an American citizen. I'm sorry but I do not feel sorry for them!!! This is their problem!!!! It is not mine, it is not yours, they have to pay for their ignorance and her stupidity for marrying an illegal immigrant in the first place!!! I agree with Cuellorojo, we need to round up al the illegal immigrants in this country and send them all home!!!! We also need to take it one step further: if you come back, you're shot dead on the spot, no questions asked!! It would cost a lot up front to track them all down, but think about what they are costing us now, and what they will cost us in the future!! WE would be so much better off!!!! Again this is a story of our left wing agendaed, liberal news media. They are in the tank with our left wing liberal president, who is trying to destroy and give this great nation away to people just like this couple. This story should have never been aired!!! Like Terri75 said,"if she loves him that much she should be with him". Evidently she doesn't, she's a liberal and wants him to benefit from this country without earning the right to be an American citizen. She wants us to be his Santa Claus!!! I pose a couple of questions for this TV station!! Why do you want us to feel sorry for this couple???? Are you part of the left wing liberal media who is in the back pocket of this socialist president like everyone else?? Are you a part of the give away culture that wants to give our great nation away to immigrants??????

All of you need to know that Cesar was not your typical immigrant. He has a a high school diploma from North Carolina. He is just a few credit hours short of a degree in missions from a local Bible College. He was also a contributing member of society. He committed no crime, at five years old you have no say in where your parent or parents take you. He had spent months applying for citizenship and was told by our government that the last step was to go to the Embassy in Juarez Mexico to do a live interview, but that is was just a formality. They said he would do the interview and then come back home. At one time He even tried to join our armed forces to go over seas and fight for us. Less than 1% of true Americans are willing to do that. He said he was willing to earn his citizenship, he was not looking for a handout. Oh yes and btw. He also worked a full time job and paid taxes, another 2 things a lot of "Americans" don't do.
