I fished the pier last week and caught 4 Bonnet Head sharks. The surfers were right their where the sharks were biting. It's a no brainer. You want to swim near the pier your chances of getting bit are high. You want to swim in the ocean here your swimming with hungry sharks.

I am more concerned with the bacteria and pollutants at jax beach than I am sharks, though I have an overactive fear of them as well. There is no place I feel comfortable swimming down here because of all the things that can "bite", from amoebas to gators to sharks.
