Skeletal remains found in wooded area
ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. -- Investigators are trying to identify skeletal remains found in a wooded area in Alachua County.
The bones were found around 8:40 p.m. Tuesday on the 6000 block of West Newberry Road. Because of lack of daylight, the scene was secured until Wednesday morning.
The age, race, sex and identity of the deceased have not been determined. Alachua County deputies are working with the medical examiner to make a positive identification and rule a cause of death.
If you have any information that can help investigators, call the Alachua County Sheriff's Office at (352) 955-1818.
