VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. (WFTV)  -- Authorities in Volusia County are searching for a missing 17-year-old tourist, whose mother pleaded for her safe return on Sunday.

Kimberly Williams told WFTV she is worried about her outgoing teenage daughter Nicole Crowder, who is visiting the area from Missouri and has been missing since Saturday.

"She can know somebody for five minutes and say 'Oh that’s my friend,' and that’s what worries me so much because she’s very gullible and childlike," Williams said.

According to authorities, Crowder has the mental capacity of a 9-year-old and needs medications, which she does not have with her.

Crowder, 17, was last seen on the beach near the Econo Lodge at 1601 S. Atlantic Avenue Saturday around 5:30 p.m. She was seen with an unknown black woman and man who apparently befriended her, according to officials.

"It just doesn’t sound right, doesn’t feel right. Every essence in me tells me something’s terribly, terribly wrong," Williams said.

Beach patrol crews spent the day posting flyers about Crowder's disappearance. On Sunday, Williams asked for anyone who has seen her daughter to come forward.

"Each hour that goes by, I am horrified. I’m just asking anyone who knows anything please bring my child home," Williams said.

Crowder is 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighs around 185 lbs., deputies said. She has brown eyes, black hair and was wearing a black and white one piece bathing suit when she was last seen.

The woman she was last seen with has a dark complexion and appeared to be in her late teens. The man is described as being around 30 years-old and bald, with a medium build and gold teeth.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Crowder is asked to contact the Volusia County Sheriff's Office.

Quote from another news site: A 17-year-old tourist who went missing from a Volusia County beach on Saturday was found safe Monday in Seminole County. End quote So it seems the person involved probably didn't understand at first why everyone was worried about a grown woman.

Hopefully she turns alive and ok. Still no answer why a big 9 year old was left unattended. If her capacity is 9 years old then she should not been left un attended.
