PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. -- Authorities are investigating a potential lightning strike during a tornado warning in St. Johns County Thursday afternoon.

It happened at the First Atlantic Bank/Remax building on Palm Valley Road and A1A.

Action News anchor Tera Barz was inside Fresh Market nearby when a woman ran in, screaming that there was a tornado outside and warning everyone to take cover.

Barz said she then heard a loud boom.

She said she went outside and saw the power was out in the area, including at the bank building

Fire crews are on scene investigating.  The area was under a brief tornado warning at the time.

Ryan Smith reports everyone jumped when they heard lightning strike the building.   An insurance agent who works inside told Action News everyone was evacuated and fire crews arrived within seven minutes of the strike.

Viewers also sent Action News several photos of a water spout along the St. Johns River.
