JACKSONVILLE, Fla -- A cold front will move across the area today but the higher humidity is shifting south of Jacksonville which is where scattered showers and thunderstorms will fire midday through the afternoon.  It appears metro Jacksonville will be spared from most if not all of the rain today -- including "The Players" golf tournament.  Showers and a few storms are most likely near and south of Highway 16 this afternoon or for areas from Starke through Green Cove Springs and St. Augustine south to Palatka, Crescent Beach, Palm Coast and Flagler Beach.  A few strong storms will occur in these areas with frequent lightning and brief heavy rain.  Only a few isolated mostly weak showers should develop along I-10 south to Highway 16.  Southeast Georgia looks dry.  Otherwise skies will be partly sunny for this Mother's Day with warm afternoon highs in the 80s.  Sunburn times will drop to as low as 10-15 minutes this afternoon.  Temperatures will be much cooler -- but nice -- for the beginning of the workweek.
