ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- A former substitute teacher has turned herself in to police after being wanted for having sex with a minor.
Stacey Slamka, 49, faces six counts in St. Johns County. The school district tells Action News it discovered she was sending inappropriate text messages to a student in March of 2012. She was immediately removed and later terminated. Slamka worked at Gaines Transitional, Gamble Rodgers Middle, Murray Middle, Pedro Menendez High, St. Augustine High and St. Johns Technical High, according to school records.
The teacher turned herself into authorities in Alachua County. She is set to be arraigned in a St. Johns County court on Monday, April 8.
