Suspect in killing of Cherish Perrywinkle waives right to speedy trial

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The sex offender accused of killing Cherish Perrywinkle appeared in court Wednesday morning.

Donald Smith waived his right to a speedy trial.

Police say Smith kidnapped the 8-year-old girl from a Walmart on Lem Turner Road in June.

Police recovered her body from behind a church the next day.

Smith will be back in court on Oct. 15.

Why? Does he think it will give time for people to forget what he did to Cherish? THIS IS EXACTLY why moms,families,friends and the community should ALWAYS keep themselves and these little girls in the news, spotlight. So REAL JUSTICE is served, no light sentence, or freed early, or no miss-trialed 'technicalities'. Regardless of how sorry I feel this mom was/is, Cherish still deserves justice.
