ORANGE PARK, Fla. -- A woman dubbed the "Silver Thief" is now behind the cold, iron bars of a jail cell.
The Clay County Sheriff's Office arrested 24-year-old Duzti Jo Davis of Middleburg on numerous counts of retail theft.
Detectives say she's a suspect in at least four thefts at two local Target stores, two of the thefts happened in the same day.
The thefts began in early October at the Target store at 1919 Wells Road.
Detectives say surveillance video shows a woman taking several items from the display rack in the jewelry department. The Target loss prevention officer told investigators the woman put the items in her purse and walked out.
On Oct. 18, detectives believe the same woman hit two area Target stores on the same day.
During the lunch hour at the Target on County Road 220, detectives say a woman removed a large amount of silver necklaces from the display rack and put them in her purse.
Three hours later, deputies responded to a report of a theft at the Target on Wells Road. Surveillance video showed a woman removing a number of necklaces from the rack and placing them into her purse. A witness told detectives the suspect arrived at the store in a Silver Toyota Corolla with a man in the passenger seat. The witness said once the woman got out of the car, the man hopped into the driver's seat and waited for the suspect to return. When she did, the man moved back over to the passenger seat, the suspect got into the driver's seat and drove off.
A week later, a woman was caught on camera stealing from the Target store on County Road 220. The suspect pulled up in a white, 4-door sedan, walked into the store and stole more than 20 pairs of silver earrings from the jewelry center. She walked to another section and stole 26 necklaces from the display and hid them in her purse. She left the store and drove off.
The Clay County Sheriff's Office says the keen eyes of a detective and the agency's Facebook page helped to nab Davis. The detective recognized her from other investigations. Fans on Facebook also recognized her. Detectives say Davis shaved her head after committing the final theft. She is being held on a $40,000 bond.
