JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Rescue crews are in the water searching for a man who went under Saturday evening at Huguenot Memorial Park off Heckscher Drive.

The call came in to JSO around 7 p.m. that a man was missing in the water.

JSO says three adult men were swimming together in chest-deep water when two of them became distressed.

A nearby surfer noticed what was going on and helped pull one of the men out of the water. He was taken to the hospital and I'm told he is stable.

But by the time the surfer went back for the other man, he had gone under.

Right now police say the man's odds of survival are pretty low. Soon this mission will switch from a rescue mission to a recovery mission. The JSO dive team will decide how long to search. Searchers will call it off after they feel they've searched all they can.
