Teacher accused of affair with student gets probation

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A local teacher accused of having an affair with a student pleaded guilty in court.

A judge sentenced Danielle Reed, 23, to five years of probation.

Reed cannot contact the victim for life, and any time spent with anyone under the age of 18 must be supervised.

The Duval County superintendent recommended Reed be suspended without pay pending termination at a hearing next Tuesday.

Reed taught honors english at Atlantic Coast High School. She will have to pay for counseling for the victim and get a mental evaluation.

She cannot teach in schools and must surrender her teaching certificate.
