JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A suspected thief picked the wrong unlocked car to enter early Saturday morning.

The car was parked at a home near Hodges and Beach boulevards on Jacksonville's Southside.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says the homeowner noticed the suspect in the unlocked car apparently looking for items to steal.

The homeowner approached the suspect and a struggle ensued, according to officers at the scene.

The suspect was reportedly shot one time in the leg.

The homeowner detained the suspect until police arrived. Police say the two men did not know each other.

The suspect's injuries are not life-threatening. No charges are expected to be filed against the homeowner.

"unlocked" = crime of opportunity. Glad it turned out like it did but...
