PALATKA, Fla. -- Three people were arrested after a local market was broken into.
The Palatka Police Department responded about 7:45 a.m. Wednesday to a burglary call at Family Market at 1201 Madison St.
Police said employees discovered the break in and theft. Witnesses reported seeing people selling cigarettes and other items near an apartment at 505 North 24th Street in Palatka.
Police made contact with Romeo Staples, 18, and the resident of the apartment. Police identified several items from the burglary inside of the residence. Police recovered thousands of dollars in coins, cash and merchandise. Two other suspects, Kris Ham, 18, and Jataveis McHellen, 16, were also arrested.
Ham and McHellen were also arrested for dealing in stolen property and resisting arrest. Staples and Ham were booked into the Putnam County Jail with no bond. McHellen was detained by Juvenile Justice Authorities.
