JACKSONVILLE, Fla -- Twin tropical cyclones have developed in the Atlantic Basin. Tropical storm "Sandy" has formed from depression #18 in the Caribbean. The storm is expected to strengthen and move north/northeast near Jamaica, over Cuba then into the Southeast Bahamas by late week. "Sandy" should stay well east of Florida, but the First Alert Weather Center expects fringe effects in the form of gusty east to northeast winds, rough seas and surf and a high rip current risk. Meanwhile...tropical depression #19 has formed in the Central Atlantic. The depression has the potential to strengthen but will turn north then sharply northeast over the open Atlantic and is of no threat to any land areas.
