JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A Northside elementary school will resume classes as normal, after police swarmed a local neighborhood looking for car theft suspects who were involved in a police shooting at JIA Wednesday.

According to Marsha Oliver with Duval County Public Schools, Highlands Elementary School at 1000 DePaul Drive was on a code red lockdown because of police activity in the area earlier this afternoon.

JSO later confirmed it located and arrested two car theft suspects at the Monaco Arms II Apartments. Action News was on the scene and witnessed officers taking one person away in a police cruiser. Police are not yet saying if it is one of the suspects.

A car was also removed from the apartment complex.
