JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says two officers suffered minor injuries while chasing a drug suspect on the Westside.

Police say the officers were conducting a drug sting at the CVS Pharmacy near Blanding Boulevard and Collins Road on Wednesday night.

The suspect, who was in a stolen car, tried to drive off when officers moved in to arrest him, according to police. JSO says the suspect drove directly toward a detective, running over his foot, and drove into other occupied police vehicles. He then was injured after crashing into a metal pole.

Police say the suspect ran away, but was caught several blocks away.

The two officers are being treated for minor injuries tonight. One of the officers suffered an injury to his hand. One officer has returned to work, the other has not.

The suspect is charged with auto theft, four counts of aggravated Battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting an officer with violence, sale of narcotics and possession of narcotics.

Police have not released the name of the suspect.
