BRADFORD COUNTY, Fla. -- A woman from Starke is facing animal cruelty charges.

The Bradford County Sheriff's Office arrested Jeanette Hars on 11 counts of animal cruelty.

The investigation began weeks ago when deputies were putting sexual predator warning signs around the area.

A supervisor with the Animal Control Unit removed 11 dogs, 10 cats, and a rabbit from the suspect's home, and gave her a warning about proper care and treatment.

A folo-up visit uncovered nearly a dozen dogs in poor condition, and ultimately Hars' arrest.

"It sickens me to find anyone mistreating animals," said Sheriff Gordon Smith. "I will not tolerate animal cruelty and will use the full force of authority entrusted in me by the citizens of Bradford County to investigate and incarcerate animal abusers."

Hars is being held at the Bradford County Jail on a $11,000 bond.

NativeJax, I agree, Arrest was probably not the best course of action in this case. The woman obviously needs help.
