LAKE COUNTY, Fla. (WFTV) -- Lake County investigators say Kristi Lynne Delaney was found dead inside her Bay Lake Avenue home.
They say she was murdered and believe her 3-year-old daughter witnessed the whole thing.
"We heard this loud piercing scream, I was like, 'Oh my gosh I have to hang up the phone and find out where that's coming from,'" neighbor Brittany Evans said.
Investigators said after seeing her mom in distress, the 3-year-old girl walked more than a mile, across a busy street to her grandmother's house.
"I was amazed that the little girl was walking by herself," neighbor Erika Conde said.
Neighbors spotted the little girl walking and went after her to make sure she was OK.
"We've seen here with the parents before, but never alone," neighbor Martha Lupian said.
The good Samaritans went with the child to her grandmother's house and told her the little girl was walking around by herself.
Investigators said the grandmother called and then later went to her daughter's home and discovered her body.
Neighbors said there had been problems before at the home between the victim and her boyfriend.
"They used to fight a lot," City Manager Jim Gleason said.
Investigators believe Monday's incident was also domestic-related.
The victim had filed an injunction against her boyfriend last year.
Police have not named any suspects in Delaney's death.
