JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A woman walking on Shindler Drive was hit by a car and killed this morning. Now neighbors say their concerns about safety weren't listened to.
A man traveling north on Shindler in a Nissan Altima came up on the woman at 2 a.m. She was dressed in dark clothing and police say he just didn't see her.
The 26-year-old, identified as Tabitha Boykin, lived in the area, according to neighbors.
One neighbor, Chris Shiver, said the lack of sidewalks causes a lot of problems. He said another woman was almost hit last night, too.
"Everybody on this road has been begging for a sidewalk for years. I don't understand it. Please put a sidewalk in," he said.
Police say speed and alcohol were not factors in the crash.
