The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration released their 2017 Atlantic Hurricane Season Outlook on Thursday.
The outlook calls for a slightly busier than average season. The forecast includes 11-17 named storms for the 2017 season. NOAA also predicts 5-9 hurricanes with 2-4 major (Category 3 or above) hurricanes.

The average number of named storms per Atlantic Hurricane Season is 12 with 6 hurricanes and 2 major hurricanes.
In April, Colorado State University forecast 11 named storms, 4 hurricanes, 2 major hurricanes.
Hurricane season runs from June 1 through November 30.
