Five brush fires blaze in Putnam County


Florida Forest Service is confirming there are five brush fires throughout Putnam County.

They believe the cause was lightning strikes and are on the scene.

There are no injuries, no smoke and the fires are not affecting the roadways. 

Fire 1- The first fire is at Bay Pond Rd. about two miles south of Q.I Roberts Middle School. An airplane and two tractors are on the scene. They are not sure of the size, but there are no smoke or road issues.  

Fire 2- The second fire is at David Rd. and it is 1/10th of an acre. Two tractors are on the scene and Putnam Fire Rescue is on the way to assist. There are no smoke or road issues. 

Fire 3- The third fire is on Red Fox Rd. 2-3 miles NW of Rodman Dam, near CR 310. One tractor is on the way. There are no smoke issues. 

Fire 4-  Forestry is no longer on the scene at a fire on Silver Lake Rd. It is 1/10th of an acre, 5 miles southeast of Hollister near SR 20. 

FIre 5- The fifth fire is at High Fence Rd. near the Sun Garden area.  It is 5 acres in size.
