18-year-old arrested after attempting to burglarize occupied home

FLAGER COUNTY, Fla. — An 18-year-old has been arrested and held without bond in connection with multiple residential and vehicle burglaries.

At least seven burglaries were reported on Bunker Lane in Palm Coast Friday morning.

A resident spotted the suspect, who was identified as Michael Shawn McRoberts Jr. McRoberts was wearing all black clothing and looking into windows, according to police.

A Flagler County Sheriff’s Office investigation revealed that McRoberts stole from unlocked cars and attempted burglaries in his Palm Coast neighborhood.

Police also learned that McRoberts attempted to enter an occupied home through a sliding glass door while the residents were sleeping. The homeowner was alerted by his dogs, spotted McRoberts leaving the area, then followed him until police arrived on the scene.

“Due to witnesses quickly notifying law enforcement and providing a detailed description, the suspect was located and approximately $2500 worth of property was recovered,” said Sheriff James L. Manfre.

McRoberts was arrested at this home on Bunker View Place, and charged with attempted burglary of an occupied dwelling and possession of cannabis under 20 grams.

Police took him to the Flager County Detention Facility, where they discovered McRoberts had Alprazolam. Introduction of contraband into a correctional facility and possession of a contraband substance without a prescription were added to his previous charges.

McRoberts is being held without bond.
