2 cadets get Det. David White memorial scholarships

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — Two deputy cadets in Clay County were awarded with a scholarship in honor of a fallen hero.

The widow of Detective David White was there as Robert Mathews and Stacci Sastre were given $3,000 awards.

Those will be used to cover the cost of their academy training, uniforms and books.

The scholarships were funded with proceeds from the charity golf tournament in White's name.

White was gunned down investigating a meth lab in 2012.
