25-year-old receives 2 life sentences in 2012 murder case

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A 25-year-old man received two life sentences Wednesday for the murder of 19-year-old Tommy McDowell, Jr.

Justin Footman was found guilty of murder and first-degree armed robbery in June.

Footman and two others planned to rob marijuana from the victim's cousin in December of 2012, according to the Department of Justice news release.

Footman shot the victim in the chest when he arrived at the cousin's home, took the drugs and ran, the release said.
