28-acre woods fire in Nahunta contained

NAHUNTA, Ga. — A 28-acre woods fire in Brantley County was contained Friday afternoon.

The fire started just after 2 p.m. and no structures were damaged or destroyed, according to a Georgia Forestry Commission ranger.

Three tractors plowed a containment line around the fire and mop-up operations will continue at least through tomorrow.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, the ranger said, but the soil is relatively dry in south Georgia.
