30-year-old killed while crossing S.R. 16

A 30-year-old St. Augustine man died after he was hit by a car while crossing State Road 16 on Wednesday night.

Troopers said Matthew Metcalf was walking across the westbound lanes of S.R. 16 near Four Mile Road at approximately 10 p.m. when he was hit by a car.

Metcalf died at the scene and the driver of the white Kia Spectra was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Troopers do not yet know if alcohol was a factor in the crash.
