4 children hurt in Baker County crash

Four Florida children were taken to the hospital with serious injuries Saturday after a crash in the Mcclenney area, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The highway patrol was called out to I-10 at U.S. Highway 90 at 12:39 a.m. on reports of a two-vehicle crash in Baker County.

The FHP reported that a white GMC truck was exiting a driveway access of a nearby convenience store located on the north side of U.S. Highway 90 when a gold Toyota van, carrying an adult and four children, was driving west on the highway, approaching the driveway access.

The Highway Patrol said the GMC driver failed to see the approaching van and entered the roadway traveling directly into its path.

The front of the van hit the driver's side of the truck in the inside westbound lane of Highway 90, FHP said.

An 8 year old, two 12 year olds, an 11 year old and the 57-year-old driver were taken to UF Health.

The incident report said the driver and passenger in the GMC truck are from Virginia and had minor injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.
