4-year-old child bitten by dog in St. Augustine

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — A 4-year-old child was bitten in the cheek and under one eye by a dog Monday night in St. Augustine off County Road 208.

St. Johns County Fire Rescue was called to the 2300 block of C.H. Arnold Road around 7:15 p.m.

The child was transported to UF Health at Jacksonville and has non-life-threatening injuries.

Animal Control responded to the area and the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office is investigating as well.

The owner of the dog tells Action News the child was a neighbor and inside his home at the time. The owner said the year-and-a-half-old bulldog had never done anything like that before.

The owner allowed the dog to be taken away with Animal Control.
