5 teens arrested after crime spree in Atlantic Beach

Police officers arrested five teens after a string of car burglaries in Atlantic Beach on Sunday.

Atlantic Beach police responded to a burglary in progress on Beachside Court, where they said they saw a car matching the description given by a complainant on Seminole Road.

The car, which authorities said had been stolen in Jacksonville, drove off. Several teens later gout out and ran from the car.

Atlantic Beach police officers, Neptune Beach officers and the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office assisted in the search.

Officers said they believe the five teens arrested were not the only ones involved in the alleged car burglaries.

Many of the stolen items were recovered from inside the stolen vehicle after officers said they made the arrests.

The teens are suspected of stealing items from unlocked cars and open garages.

The five suspects, ages of 14-16, are from the west side of Jacksonville.
