$5K reward for information in 2016 deaths of men found shot, killed in burning SUV in St. Augustine

On Wednesday, the St. Augustine Police Department and the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office announced there is now a $5,000 reward for information on the deaths of Charles Durden and Steffon Larry.

Members of SJCSO and SAPD eagerly handed out flyers to neighbors in the area. They’re hoping the increased reward will generate leads.

Action News Jax has been following this story since the two men were found in November 2016.
The two men were shot and then burned beyond recognition by the time local law enforcement got on the scene.

But that doesn’t mean they’ve forgotten the case, as SAPD Detective Michael Ochkie said when we spoke to her.

“Eventually, you will be caught. We’re going to continue to work and look at evidence and look at people of interest until we find the person that did it,” Ochkie said.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers at 1-888-277-TIPS. This is still a very active investigation.
