911 calls: Motorcyclist shoots into traffic in Julington Creek road-rage incident

A motorcyclist who witnesses said shot multiple rounds into traffic during rush hour in Julington Creek is still out there.

Six witnesses told 911 dispatchers a pack of motorcyclists were weaving in and out of traffic on Tuesday when they got into a road-rage fight with a driver.

Those witnesses said the motorcyclists were flying by southbound on State Road 13 near the intersection with Race Track Road.

“Somebody’s going to get killed,” said one 911 caller.

One caller said he believed they were driving 80 miles an hour.

“A bunch of stupid idiots on sport bikes that are racing down 13, weaving in and out of cars, driving on the right side of the road in the biking lane,” said another 911 caller.

Then things took a violent turn.

Multiple callers reported a truck or SUV got into it with the bikers.

“I just observed about six or seven guys on motorcycles and a guy in a white truck get into some kind of road-rage incident. And I swear I just heard somebody fire off, like, three or four shots,” said a 911 caller.

Multiple callers reported hearing the shots.

One caller said he saw a motorcyclist pull a gun from his waistband and fire into traffic.

“The guy gunned it, like hit the gas really quick, and that’s when you heard pop, pop, pop, pop, pop,” said a 911 caller.

St. Johns County deputies rushed to the scene, where they found shell casings in a bank parking lot.

The sheriff’s office said none of the people involved in the road rage shooting called in to report it.
