Back to School with the Jaguars: 120 kids invited to back to school bash

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A group of kids in Jacksonville was invited to a special back to school bash Tuesday.

They started their day with some bowling and dancing, then it was onto the video games.

For some of the kids, including Isaiah Pough, it was all about meeting the special guest of the day.

Jaguar Myles Jack and the Jaguars Foundation invited him and 120 children from JaxPAL the Boys & Girls Club of Northeast Florida to Main Event for a morning of fun and games.

Myles Jack hung out with the kids, even bowling a few frames alongside them. Each kid got a brand new backpack for the first day of school.

“We’re dealing with some families that have multiple children, some families that are facing financial difficulties and things of that nature so this comes right on time for back to school,” Mary Bishop, JaxPAL executive director, said.

Myles Jack also wanted them to take home an important message – to work hard so they can succeed and achieve great things.

“We need more doctors and lawyers -- we need more positive influences,” he said. “Especially because these kids are minority children. So in order to be heard, and be told that -- I feel like that’s powerful – to be told they can go to school and become something.”

Bishop said it was an exciting way for the kids to end their summer -- and start up the new school year.
