Brothers arrested after fight over cigarettes

INTERLACHEN, Fla. — Police received a call about stabbing in Interlachen on Aug. 24 around 3:30 p.m.

The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office and major crimes detectives came to the home and spoke to 52-year-old Ronald Allen Cormier.

Ronald told police he was stabbed in the arm by his brother Edward Paul Cormier, 54.

Ronald said an argument broke out over him taking a cigarette from Edward’s pack.

The argument turned physical and Ronald said Edward stabbed him.

Witnesses said Ronald actually pulled a knife on Edward and cut himself in the process, police say.

Edward was arrested and charged with battery.  He is in the Putnam County Jail being held without bond because the battery is domestic related.

Ronald is charged with filing a false police report.
