PALM COAST, Fla. — A Bunnell man was arrested Friday night after he burglarized a man's home and lead police on a high-speed chase.
A man got to his home on Bird Haven Place in Palm Coast around 10:45 p.m. and found an unfamiliar car in his driveway.
He then found a man running around his house, grunting and yelling at him.
Flagler County Sheriff’s Office said 35-year-old Maurice D. Godwin ffled the home in a Dodge Charger and was first stopped by Bunnell police officer and Flagler deputy on East Black Point Road.
When the deputy tried to talk to Godwin, he sped away more than 100 miles per hour, according to deputies.
Another deputy saw him speeding without headlights on and tried to catch up with him.
Godwin took a right turn and the deputy found the Charger crashed into a guardrail near CR45 and West SR 100.
The deputy got out of his car and heard someone running in the canal along SR 100.
Deputies caught Godwin and arrested him.
He was booked into the Flagler County Jail on a series of charges, including burglary of an occupied dwelling, felony theft, aggravated fleeing and attempting to elude, resisting an officer without violence, criminal mischief, possession of burglary tools, possession of less than 20 grams of cannabis, violation of probation, driving with a suspended license, and an Alachua County warrant for a Writ of Bodily.
