Clay County pizza delivery driver robbed, hit by car outside restaurant

A man was arrested after deputies said he attacked a pizza delivery driver, hit her with his car, then drove off while she was still on the hood.

The woman who was attacked outside Vito’s Pizza on Blanding Boulevard talked with Action News Jax reporter Michael Yoshida on Wednesday.

She said she will no longer work as a pizza delivery after she was attacked behind Vito's on Tuesday.

She said she parked by the back door to get her next delivery when she saw a man closing her car door.

“This man was holding my purse and making the meanest face I’d ever seen,” she told Yoshida.

She said it was a busy night so she didn’t lock her car.

“I wanted to go, go, go, get tips, get the pizzas to the customers,” she said.

According to the police report, the suspect went through the woman’s purse then got in his car, drove forward and hit her.

“I fell over his car, pizzas and all that,” she said.

The police report said she was still on the hood when the man reversed and drove off.

“I started sliding off and I landed on the floor and (got) dragged a little bit,” she said.

The woman told Yoshida that after the attack, she got an alert that one of her ATM cards had been used.

Law enforcement went to the area and 26-year-old Marcus Walker was arrested several hours later.

Walker faces charges including aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, burglary and petit theft.

The woman said she hopes her story can help others, whether it's businesses adding security cameras or lighting where drivers park or drivers not leaving their keys and other personal belongings in plain sight.

“You never think that something like this is going to happen to you,” she said. “You never think that you’re going to be affected by the things you see on the news and then you become one of those people.”
