JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Duval County Public Schools is reporting that the community donated a fration of the funds needed to transition Nathan Bedford Forrest High School to Westside High School.
The cost of the transition from Forrest to Westside High was $242,000. The community donated $2,857.
Westside High will debut the school’s new look on Friday at 8 a.m.
The school’s name change was approved in a unanimous vote by the Duval County School Board in December 2013.
Students chose the name Westside High School and the Wolverine mascot in a vote in December.
