RELATED: Two men killed when motorcycle, Volkswagen collide in St. Augustine
St. Johns County authorities are trying to ascertain why two roommates are dead after a bizarre series of events that happened in St. Augustine.
James Henry Weaver, 56, was found dead from a gunshot wound in a trailer on Los Robles Court on Tuesday. It was determined that the man's roommate was 55-year-old Steven Canard.
Canard was killed Monday night when his Volkswagen Jetta was struck by a motorcycle at a high rate of speed. Canard was ejected in the crash and died at the scene. The driver of the motorcycle, 24-year-old Oliver Rollins, also died at the scene.
Records show that Canard was arrested in February on fraud charges and was out on $2,500 bail.
A 1993 arrest for Canard listed the same Los Robles Court address where Weaver was found dead.
Authorities said foul play was "probable" after reviewing evidence at the scene. The medical examiner ruled that Weaver's cause of death was a gunshot wound to the chest and the manner of death was homicide.
